Three selected yeast strains of Yarrowia lipolytica species were used as modelling objects to test 62 chemical substances considered to be potentional cytostatics. In the cells following phenomena were observed and analysed: 1/ process of cell cycle, 2/process of mitosis, 3/ morphology of nucleus, formation of polynuclear forms, 3/ amount of DNA in nucleus, polyploid nuclei formation, 4/ localization, morphology of microtubular cytoskeleton, 5/ amount and localization of actin microfilaments, 6/ presence, amount and localization of calmodulin. Six of all analysed substances were found to be appropriate (as cytostatics) and were suggested for a further detailed analysis.
