Debt Management of Czech Local Governments: Problems and Solutions Resulting from Case Studies
Original language description
In the last 13 years, most of the Czech municipalities have used debt as a source of financeand the indebtedness of all municipalities in the Czech Republic grows both nominally and really. In relation to GDP, however, it does not pose a serious problem, since the indebtedness of all municipalities does not exceed 3 % of GDP, and therefore it does not substantially affect fulfillment of Maastricht Convergence Criteria in the area of fiscal balance. The situation of particular municipalities, though, maybe different: some have serious problems with paying off their loans.
