The Importance of Emotions in Language Learning
Original language description
In this workshop we will be discussing how emotions influence ? positively and negatively ? foreign language learning. In a series of reflection tasks, the participants will be able to investigate their own awareness of their feelings as well as that ofothers and then compare. Even though we do not often acknowledge that, our emotions in a certain situation provide all the information we need about it, as well as all the answers for possible future change. And as they are always there, it is possible to make a conscious choice whether to accept them and acknowledge their place in our life and our learning/ teaching process. So starting from observing our feelings, using attention as a tool to stay present and accept what is there within us, we can then apply the knowledge and change our future learning behaviour. Knowing that, we can incorporate it into our teaching techniques and approaches.
