LASER-INDUCED BREAKDOWN SPECTROSCOPY ? FROM TABLETOP TO STAND-OFF (AND BACK)
Original language description
LIBS is able to identify a wide spectrum of chemical elements including those with low atomic numbers. There is no need for any special sample preparation and it is possible to analyze all states of matter. Results of the analysis may be available in a few seconds and one measurement may contain spectroscopic traces of all chemical elements present in the analyte. Here we report on different modifications of LIBS, considering both lab-based and remote (stand-off) devices. Special emphasis is given to the recent development and application of this technique in our labs, including the possibility to combine LIBS with other analytical techniques, e.g. with X-ray computed microtomography.
