The article focuses on the relationship between conceptual hierarchy and ideology; it examines the way in which this relationship is reflected in three English-language thesauri: one from the U.S. one British and one from the European Union. The thesaurus, too, reflects (and contributes to the establishment of) its authors and biases and subliminally influences ordinary users of these library classification systems.
