Claiming legitimacy in/of a Romani NGO
Original language description
Roma are often described as people "outside (official) institutions". The case study of the Czech Romani NGO challenges this simplification and shows how the Romani NGO strategically uses the "Romani" label as a form of resource and specific form of professionalism and how this strategy is delegitimized by more professionalized and powerful actors in the field, who bulit their image on the basis of academic degrees, efficiency and organizational transparency.
