The antimicrobial activity of chloroform and methanol extracts of seventeen spices and medicinal plants was determined. Three strains, Arcobacter butzleri, A. cryaerophilus and A. skirrowii, were tested. All prepared extracts were less or more effective. The highest efficacy was noted by extracts from cinnamon, bearberry, chamomile, sage and rosemary. Methanol extracts were more effective than chloroform extracts. Only chloroform extracts from cinnamon and rosemary were better than their methanol extracts. The inhibition dose of the most effective extracts was determined too.
