Structure and properties of TeO2 containing calcium borophosphate glasses
Original language description
Calcium borophosphate glasses doped with TeO2 were studied in the compositional series (100-x)[0.5CaO-0.1B2O3-0.4P2O5]-xTeO2 in a concentration range of x = 0-30 mol% TeO2. DTA studies showed that all of glasses crystallize on heating within the temperature region of 600-750°C and the surface nucleation mechanism prevails over the internal one. Compounds formed by crystallization were BPO4, Ca2P2O7 and Ca4P6O19. Glass transition temperature and crystallization temperature decrease with increasing TeO2 content as well as the thermal stability of glasses. The addition of TeO2 to the starting calcium borophosphate glass also resulted in a gradual decrease of the chemical durability of glasses. According to the Raman spectra, TeO2 is incorporated in the structural network in the form of TeO3 and TeO4 structural units and the ratio of TeO4/TeO3 increases with increasing TeO2 content in the glasses.
