Autotrophic denitrification using bacteria Thiobacillus denitrificans in flow-through system - pilot experiments
Original language description
Autotrophic denitrification using bacteria Thiobacillus (T.) denitrificans belongs to group of alternative methods of removing nitrate and nitrite ions from contaminated water - it is used in the redox reaction catalyzed by bacterial enzymes. The electrons are released by the oxidation of reduced inorganic sulfur compounds and used for the reduction of nitrates and nitrites under anoxic conditions. The aim of the work was to describe autotrophic denitrification of T. denitrificans in flow-through system, where elemental sulfur was used as electron donor. This flow-through system had 80 % efficiency.
