The twentieth consecutive seminar on new trends in research of energetic materials (NTREM) was intended as a world meeting where junior scientists and students meet with each other and also with well-established experts working in the fields of teaching, research, development, processing, analyzing and application of all kinds of energetic materials. Seminar was held in the University Hall, University of Pardubice on April 26-28, 2017. The goal the organizing committee is to create a pleasant atmosphere where young specialists from various countries will have an opportunity to exchange professional information as well as gain personal contacts. Participants were from 29 countries. In the two-part anthology 136 papers are published from which 35 lectures and 72 posters were presented by their authors at the international audience of this Seminar. A big interest in participation at the 20th Seminar NTREM was from the side of Russian, Polish, UK, Chinese, Germanic, Turkish, UK’s, France’s and USA’s colleagues. International Scientific Committee of the seminar, chaired by Prof. Adam Cumming (Univ. Edinburgh) noted that the seminar had a best level in these meetings history and was very well prepared. It recommended continuing the tradition in these meetings, with preferring of the USB versions of Proceedings. The committee has undertaken an evaluation of the presentation of young active participants.
