Spatial data has been more and more required for everyday regular work, e.g. by civil servants, managers, businessmen, controllers, soldiers, and many others. They are necessary not only for business but for environment protection, emergency systems, etc. Along with this increasing dependency on spatial data, easy and cheep access to the data has been required because desktop and professional geographic information systems are quite complicated and expensive. Internet geographic information systems meetthe needs so they undergo a rapid development and spreading. They are described in the paper and their utilization in a role of ordinary information system is discussed. Some issues concerning quality of service, software, information system, etc. are discussed as well.
