Comparison of the Estimates of Correlation Coefficient by Bootstrap and Classical Methods
Original language description
When statistical investigation is made it is often necessary to make decision about the correlation relationship between two variables. The Pearson correlation coefficient R is the most often used characteristics. When the data are from a normal distribution, the distribution of the statistics R is known and its properties are known as well. The problems emerge when a sample is from different than normal distribution or when we don?t know in general this distribution. Different approximation can help usin such case. But this approximation can be very complicated in the case of a bivariate distribution and workload falls short of a result. The bootstrap method can be advantageously used in such cases.

Článek se zabývá řešení korelačního vztahu v případě, kdy dvojrozměrný náhodný výběr pochází z jiného, než normálního rozložení, resp, rozložení pravděpodobností je neznámé. Klasické metody v tomto případě selhávají, nebo jsou neúměrně náročné. Řešení nabízí použití bootstrapové metody.
