The environmental safety is important from more points of view - economic, social, political. The problem of environmental safety can be considered an important tool which supports and ensures sustainable development. In the Czech Republic this area is paid high attention and there are a number of tools supporting environmental protection, as environment is comprehended as strategically important area. Within this article, sustainability is delimitated by declared goals, terms environment and environmental safety are defined and environmental safety tools are characterized. Attention is paid to environmental policy tools and their using in selected Czech companies.
