The problem of environmental safety can be considered an important tool which supports and ensures sustainable development. The environmental safety is important from more points of view - economic, social, and political. In the Czech Republic there area number of tools supporting environmental protection, but these tools are also intended to improve the activities of Czech companies. The article presents the results of research on the use of instruments promoting environmental protection in selected small and medium-sized enterprises.
