A Web Interface for Evaluating Search Engines and AI Chatbots

  • Original language description

As of lately it has become evident that the future of Google Search is not certain because of the emergence of OpenAI's ChatGPT tool, a chatbot powered by generative AI that generates answers rather than retrieving answers from a great database. Some experts therefore predict that ChatGPT, and other chatbots alike could replace Google's search tool in the near future. In this paper we describe our web interface for evaluating popular search engines and AI chatbots. Through this interface users can enter a singular query and using different APIs simultaneously get answers from chatbots such as ChatGPT as well as highest rated search results from search engines such as Google Search. Users can then compare and rate answers from search engines and AI powered chatbots. This paper covers key steps in creating such an interface with an emphasis on avoiding possible problems which can be interesting for computer science educators and students.
