Corrosion Process in Area of Elastomer - Steel Cord in the Tires
Original language description
The given paper deals with microlocation area of the system where there is the connection area between the elastomer and steel cord in relation to tire-casing after degradation corrosion process. The electron scanning microscope has been used during themicroscopic observation of this mentioned area. In the case of the degradation process of tire-casings, the rupture can be observed at the interface between the elastomeric matrix and steel cord. If the interface is ruptured in such a way, the surface design loses its primary or given function relating to compactness of the system: elastomer - steel cord. The tested metallographic samples were obtained from one tire-casing and they were exposed to the corrosive salt environment for 256 hours. Some chosen results of scanning electron microscopy are presented in the paper. In the relation to the corrosion effect, the following analyses were used for evaluation of the degradation process: surface, point, line.
