Rcurve approach is not a universal crack model for quasibrittle fracture because of lack of geometry independency. Two parameter fracture mechanics captures the constraint effect of geometry on the fracture behaviour by means of the second member of Williams series, which approximates field of stress near the crack tip. This paper offers synthesis of these two concepts and proposes socalled resistance surfaces as a material fracture parameter.
