This paper presents the numerical simulation of train/track interaction. The analysis using detailed three-dimensional FE models of the electrical locomotive and the rail track developed in FE-code ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Particular attention is paid to modellingof wheel (rail interface. Several concepts of contact modelling are compared and discussed. Subsequently, special contact algorithm implemented in LS-DYNA was used for numerical simulation of locomotive traversing rail track.
