Utilization of Fly Ash in Manufacturing of Building Materials in the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

The annual output of fly ash from power plants in the Czech Republic is approximately 10 million tons. This is the largest volume of waste materials in industry and energy industry. Approximately 70% of the electricity in the Czech Republic produce fossil-fuel power plants. The burning of fossil fuels represents a dominant source of energy not only in the Czech Republic but also within the most countries in EU. Institute of Technology of Building Materials and Components, Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Technology in Brno performs a long-term research and development of new materials, components and their assemblies, using the appropriate waste products, which are applicable as secondary raw materials due to their properties. The questionsof efficient utilization of waste materials generated during the combustion of coal in power plants and thermal plants form one of the essential parts of research. Efficient processing of fly ash in the building industry represents a tech
