Performance Assessment of an Existing Railway Bridge
Original language description
The proportion of the existing bridge structures which are approaching the planned life is increasing every year. In addition, there are new considerations regarding the safety claim of our society as well as for increased loading of the structure, recognizable in the new code standards. Nevertheless, it is not appropriate to evaluate existing structures with code standards that relate entirely to the present and new standards. Therefore, the objective of this paper is the discussion of a procedure forthe practical assessment of existing structures incorporating aspects of uncertainties in information and sampling, developed in Austria.
