Thermal Resistance of Alkali Activated Blast Furnace Slag Composite with Chamotte Aggregate
Original language description
Binder systems based on alkali activated slag show higher thermal stability in comparison with Portland cement. This paper presents the study on the properties of alkali activated slag mortar after a high-temperature load. Test samples prepared by mixingfinely ground granulated blast furnace slag, potassium-based activator solution with silicate modulus 1.0 and chamotte aggregate were subjected to a thermal shock and gradually elevating temperature ranging from 200 to 1200 deg C. Mechanical propertieswere tested immediately after and one year after the thermal treatment. The microstructure of the binder was studied using mercury intrusion porosimetry and high-temperature XRD.
