Preparation of the application of the eis method to snow cover measurement
Original language description
Snow cover is an important factor for water-resources balances; its significance increases with rising altitude. The impact is for forecasting service in conjunction with flood prevention and minimization of flood damages with threat to life of the population and minimization of property damage. Precipitation occurs in different forms of snow with lower temperatures over a period of more days in a year. For the zones (I to VII) with snow cover, it is possible to tentatively determine construction load and the type and properties of snow. On the Sierra Nevada glacier by Granada in Spain, the suitability of the application of the EIS method to snow measurements was tested and verified in February 2012. In this paper we deal with the preparation for measurement and modification of probes for snow measurements, and also with calibration for individual types of snow and stratified measurements, including the suitability of adding temperature measurement.
