Oxide Ceramics with Calcium Phosphate Coatings

Original language description

Alumina, zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA), alumina toughened zirconia (ATZ) and zirconia ceramics were prepared by injection moulding. The surface of these ceramics was treated by applying layers pf Ca-phosphates by the dip-coating method, or by infiltCoatings of tricalcium phosphates were obtained that adhered well to the ceramic surfaces. Mechanical properties of the ceramics and the structure of coatings were studied by mechanical testing, XRD and SEM. Calcium phosphate coatings had little inflan increase in fracture toughness of coated ceramics coul be observed.
