Improved Process and Equipment Design in Relation to Waste to Energy Systems
Original language description
Waste to energy technologies should be included in processes for the thermal treatment of wastes wherever possible. Systems like these provide us (in addition to the primary purpose ? incineration of wastes) with clean, reliable and renewable energy. This can be considered as a contribution to sustainable development at present. Environmental and economic benefits, including reasons for investment in waste to energy technologies are briefly mentioned. Relations between process, wastes and energy in thheprocess industries are demonstrated and a possible approach to an ideal concept of a waste to energy plant structure is described. Improving process design in relation to waste to energy systems is shown using examples (multi-purpose incinerator for processing solid wastes, incineration unit for treatment of sludge originating in pulp and paper plant, integrated unit for thermal treatment of gas wastes). Similarly, an improved equipment design is demonstrated through several examples (n
