Sound Propagation in the Ear Canal and Coupling to the Eardrum.
Original language description
The spectrum of the eardrum excitation force from the difference of the pressure in front and behind the eardrum is calculated. The eigenvalue problem is solved on the finite element model of the external outer ear canal, the influence of the elasticityof the eardrum and the absorption of the canal walls is considered. The results of mathematical modeling are compared with experimental measurements on human dissections. The calculations support hypothesis of possible influence of external ear canal onthe enhancement of hearing sensitivity in frequency range 1 - 4 kHz.
