Forecasted air traffic growth imposes still increasing demands on airspace capacity. Better airspace utilization, with at least the same level of safety, is therefore needed if future air traffic demands would be addressed. One of the new trends of air navigation development, which should contribute to global unified airspace utilization, is Performance Based Navigation. This paper summarizes fundamental approaches, principles, supposed timeframe of implementation and potential contributions of ICAO CNS/ATM navigation solution recently introduced as Performance Based Navigation (PBN) Concept helping to reach "the same standard classified airspace environment".
