Original language description
The article deals with simulations of a radial jet interaction with a parallel to the jet wall as it may lead to a deteriorated performance of the Aaberg exhaust hood. The hood makes use of the jet to enhance the suction effect of the hood; the effect ofthe jet on the flow pattern in front of the hood being twofold. First, it reduces the suction from omnidirectional to a hemispherical one. Secondly, the jet entrains the surrounding fluid forming a directional flow pattern. Unfortunately, the optimum hood operation depends on the presence of obstacle in the vicinity of the hood as these may divert the jet from the favourable course. Several cases have been investigated either by means of the computational modelling or experimentally to map the jet behaviour when interacting with the obstacle. The obstacle was represented by a disc aligned with the principal jet direction, and located co-axially to the jet. The disc size was 550 mm and its distance to the air terminal device ranged from
