Evaluation of mechanical and structural properties of engine block made of AlSi9Cu3 alloys
Original language description
The aim of this paper is to evaluate the mechanical and structural properties of an engine block made of AlSi9Cu3 alloys. Test samples were produced by die-casting (TL) and local squeeze casting (LSC). On the samples the dependence of structural properties (porosity P, grain size, distance of dendrite arm spacing, shape factor f) on mechanical properties (tensile strength Rm, proof stress- RpO,2, and ductily A) were sought. A thorough knowledge of mechanical and structural proportion of AlSi9Cu3 alloyscontributes to improving the competitive advange of die casting.
