Computational Tools Used For Aircraft Diesel Engine Development
Original language description
The paper deals with computational tools used for a development of a new aircraft diesel engine for possible military use. The engine utilized potentials are discussed at the beginning of the paper. The cranktrain dynamics and fatigue of main componentsare solved by computational approaches. The presented methods are based on commercial tools like ANSYS or ADAMS, and also based on new software tools developed by authors during the development process. The computational models incorporate flexible bodies (based on FEM) and highly specialized software tools written in Fortran and Matlab. The developed computational dynamic models incorporates slide bearing, piston-liner and piston ring-liner models. The results include vibrations of the cranktrain and also fatigue analyses of cranktrain key parts like crankshafts or a propeller shaft. There are also presented design modifications enabling a reduction of vibrations and a fatigue increase of main parts.
