K-calibration of Special Specimen for Mode II, III and II+III Crack Growth
Original language description
General knowledge in the field of fatigue cracks under remote mode II and III loadings remains to be poor. A commonly accepted description of the crack growth rate and threshold conditions as well as details of micromechanisms of mode II and III cracks are still a subject of an intensive research. Also, experiments ensuring a pure mode II and III crack tip loading are extremely difficult to develop. Therefore, an original testing setup has been designed for performing pure remote mode II and III crack propagation in a single cylindrical specimen with a circumferential crack. The aim of this work is to make a K-calibration above mentioned specimen that will be used for a description of stability and growth of mode II and III fatigue cracks in the near-threshold region.
