Modelling Load-displacement Curve and the Onset of Pop-in during Nanoindentation Tests
Original language description
The aim of this article is to present a simulation of the nanoindentation test in copper single crystal based on a nonlinear elastic finite element analysis coupled with both ab initio calculations of the ideal shear strength and crystallographic considerations. Calculated values of the critical indentation depth corresponding to the pop-in effect lie within the range of experimentally observed pop-ins in the copper crystal.
