    This article deals with modelling of the fuel flow out of the injection nozzle into the combustion chamber of a heavy-duty diesel engine with direct injection. More specifically, the article presents the results and comparison of numerical simulations ofthe fuel flow out of the six-outlet injection nozzle, which were obtained by applying the discrete element method and computational fluid dynamics. Furthermore, an experimental verification of the results is also presented, using the recording of the injection process, acquired in laboratory conditions.
