Investigation of the Lubricant Fluid-Flow in EHL Contact using Particle Tracking
Original language description
In high loaded non-conformal contacts, lubrication is necessary to ensure low energy consumption and long durability. An elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) is of great a importance in many machine elements (gears; cams, rolling element bearings etc.).During the last decades a number of experimental methods for lubricating film thickness, pressure and temperature distributions were developed; however, only a little was published about fluid-flow through EHL contact. The purpose of this paper is to present an experimental approach ena-bling through-thickness fluid flow investigation in thin-film lubricated non-conformal contacts. This approach is based on the particle tracking method with the usage of high-speed camera and the ball-on-disc tribometer. This experimental approach was already validated by the initial experiment with silver nano-flakes particles.
