Utilising of LNG tanks as operative energy storage capacity
Original language description
This article focuses on the evaluation of the chain of energy transformations including liquefaction and subsequent regasification of natural gas (NG). The entire process is evaluated from the view of its potential to use LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) storage for a direct accumulation of cold and indirect accumulation of heat and power. Possibilities of power production are analysed considering an expansion turbine. The half effect absorption cycle is used for a production of heat utilising LNG tank as a necessary heat sink. To evaluate energy flows in detail, a mathematical model of considered energy transformations has been created and implemented. Parametric studies had been carried out for evaluation of the related energy flows. Presented results can be used for determination of an accumulation efficiency of a variety of thermodynamic schemes equipped with a LNG tank operating as accumulator of energy.
