Original language description
This paper is devoted to the design of a control system, with different controller size, applied to an industrial DVD-video drive. For high-speed players the internal/external perturbations and actuator nonlinearities are important, and the performance requirements on the servo system are emphasized. A combined pole placement/sensitivity function shaping method is used to design controllers in order to reduce the effect of external disturbances and disk defects. Controller order reduction is perfformedto allow its practical implementation and test robust stability and performance. To verify the robustness, a generalized stability margin and an uncertainty model are considered. The results of this analysis are included and tested on a real plant, in STMicroelectronics laboratories.
