Radiation absorption coefficients in arc plasmas
Original language description
Calculations are made of the total spectral absorption coefficients of various arc plasmas (SF6, PTFE, Ar, H2O). Both line and continuum radiation are considered. Photorecombination cross-sections have been calculated using an approximation method of quantum defect. For the contributions from line radiation we have calculated the strengths, widths and shifts of neutral and ionized atoms. The theory used was that of Griem [1] and Sobelmann [2], which assumes LS or jl coupling respectively. Curves are givven for the absorption coefficients of radiation for wavelengths of 10 to 2000 nm at various temperatures and plasma pressures. Data of the absorption coefficients can be used for computation of tables of partial characteristics which are widely used fora prediction of the radiative heat transfer in the arc plasmas.
