Design of Multimedia Network with Focus on QoS
Original language description
Data communication networks are being extended very fast all over the world, with many services being supported through them. The subject of our research has been a reliable design of the network, i.e. an optimum network design which satisfies the customer's needs, i.e. traffic flow with small delays, good topology with high performance and protection paths if a fault occurs in some link or switch. For large networks, in particular LANs or WANs, it is better to predict the characteristics of traffic beffore the installation. For these reasons new techniques were developed to simulate the networks using a simulation program to measure the network traffic and characteristics. It is a program that supports different types of traffic sources, from packet switching to circuit switching, with corresponding transport protocols and routing protocols. It also supports application processes, etc. for capturing the processing delays. In addition for optimisation four criteria were designed: Bit r
