A note on performance of H.264/SVC encoder compared to non-scalable codecs for high definition video
Original language description
The scalable extension of H.264 ? Scalable Video Codec (SVC) is a very promising tool for providing a flexible video service in terms of resolution, frame rate and quality using a single bit stream whose certain parts can be discarded in order to achievelower bitrate at the cost of sacrificing visual quality, lower frame rate or resolution often suitable for mobile devices. The aim of this paper is to look at the scalable video codec from the performance perspective, in the case that visual quality isthe only parameter that is influenced by packets discarded from the original compressed bit stream.
