Compact High-efficiency Li-Ion Fast-charger
Original language description
This contribution presents improvements of the flyback converter topology to be used in a 600 Watt compact, light-weight and high-efficiency Li-Ion battery charger. The improved flyback converter, utilizing modern components (e.g. SiC semiconductors) and circuit modifications, is used in place of the standard forward converter with great results. Total efficiency of the charger of over 93 % is possible. The charger is controlled by an MCU which takes information from an external BMS. Low standby consumption (<0.5 W) is assured.
