SHAPE MEMORY ALLOYS (SMA) – MODELLING OF NONLINEARITIES HYSTERESIS TYPE
Original language description
The smart materials implementation to the technical systems is a goal of many designers. Epitomes of these materials are alloys with shape memory (SMA-Shape Memory Alloy), which can be used in static or dynamic applications. The examples are surgical instruments, unconventional actuators in robotics, automotive, aircraft and engineering industry, etc. Thanks to the SMA materials sophistication and associated shape memory effect, there are some issues (hysteresis, degradation etc.), which can complicate their prospective usage. The efficient control of actuators which are based on a shape memory principle is strongly related to results given by modeling in combination with practical experiments. The properties of SMA classified these actuators to category of non-linear system. This article deals with the potential SMA modeling approaches. Several model examples are discussed, and results of the practical experiments and a description of the SMA actuated pneumatic valve are presented.
