The configuration framework (wizard) enables the creation of AAS by an automatic way instead of by hand. It also provides the user-friendly environment for writing the specification of the information model for AAS. From this specification, the tool automatically generates the AAS according to the structure defined by the current standard. Therefore, anyone can use this interactive tool to specify and generate the required AAS.

Technical parameters
AAS is based on the OPC UA technology and uses its feature such a data model and communication interface. On top of the data model, the current standard defines the AAS structure consisting of header and body. The header embodies the server configuration that consists of communication parameters till the presentation layer, server features, and security parameters. The body is defined by so called submodels that define and carry the related data in the structured way. A submodel groups data according to its meaning, e.g. identification, power consumption, service bidding, or provided manufacturing operations. A submodel is fully defined by parameters, events, and methods. Parameters specify data into an information, events define asynchronous occurrences in the asset, and methods are used for the commanding from outside of the AAS. Apart from the submodels, there are also state machines that enable some behavior of the AAS. Therefore, the AAS becomes reactive and could play a part the manufacturing control process. This integration is not yet fully described in the current standard, but it is demanded by the I4.0 concept. The start of a state machine is performed by a method and the state machine can then operate across the submodels. This implementation ensures the deterministic behavior and permits the required operations to the state machines. All above mentioned functionality of the AAS could be specified by an operator using the wizard.
