Simulation and Prototyping in Teaching Parallel Architectures, Algorithms, and Programming Models
Original language description
Teaching a CS (under)graduate course "Parallel System Architecture and Programming" is a demanding task, especially if it comes to a practical component. The suitable introductory programming language should cover all programming styles and enable hands-on experience with parallel applications, but not necessarily on parallel hardware. In this paper we are presenting experience with the existing simple CSP-based tool (Transim) that has been used a unified way for multiple parallel architectures, algoriithms, and programming models, far beyond the originally antici-pated applications. The list of suggested projects, laboratory exercises and demonstration examples is given with the Transim code available from the author.
