Pressure Dependence of the DC Nitrogen Pink Afterglow
Original language description
The nitrogen pink afterglow phenomenon is studied for more than 50 years. Different discharge configurations with DC, MW of RF power sources have been studied up to now. Based on the experimental data, the kinetic models of the post-discharge kinetics were developed, too. But up to now, there was not done any comparative study of pressure influence on this phenomenon. This is the aim of our contribution. The experimental results were obtained in flowing DC post-discharge in pure nitrogen (purity betterthan 99.999%). The gas pressure measured by capacitance gauge was varied in the range of 500 - 5000 Pa at a constant discharge power of 290 W. The gas velocity through Pyrex tube (i.d. 13 mm) was fixed at 4.7 m/s and 11 m/s. The optical emission spectrain the range 315 - 780 nm were recorded during the post-discharge up to 140 ms and 45 ms with better time resolution, respectively. The experimental results showed that the maximal intensity of the pink afterglow as well as the decay time
