Surface Modification of Materials by Plasma Polymers
Original language description
Technological applications of new materials often require them to be in the form of thin films. Many thin-film processing techniques have been developed for the fabrication of homogeneous (single) layers prepared at constant deposition conditions. Some of the techniques are able to prepare high quality thin films with high reproducibility. This level of technology will enable us to deal with more complicated film structures. Over the last ten years, scientists from varying backgrounds have rallied around a versatile new method for the synthesis of multilayer thin films. Because the layer-by-layer assembly method provides opportunities for creative design and application of function-specific films, the field has experienced an initial period of exponential growth. In complex systems, new properties appear that are not observed for each individual component.
