Production of polyhydroxyalkanoates and alginate by plant growth promoting rhizobacteria Azotobacter vinelandii
Original language description
Study is focused on five strains of Azotobacter vinelandii(DSM 85, 87, 576, 720, 13 529) and their comparison in the level of PHA and alginate production for 7 days of cultivation. As the biosynthesis of both polymers compete for a carbon source, the production of PHB starts in the first days of cultivation, whereas the amount of alginate (on which we are mainly focused) increases in the cultivation process later. Each strain has differences in the alginate quality and gelation properties.
