Thermoelectric properties of alkali-activated composites based on different precursors and carbonaceous admixtures
Original language description
Alkali-activated slag (AAS) composites based on precursors, such as slag or metashale exhibit common material properties comparable with cementitious composites. Taking into consideration their less negative environmental impact, these materials are a good alternative for civil engineering applications. However, insufficient electrical properties avoid gaining new favorable functional properties which can be gained by doping with electrically conductive admixtures. An appropriate design of new multifunctional building materials with optimized thermoelectric properties provides interesting energy harvesting able to transform waste heat sources into electrical energy. The paper is summarizing thermoelectric properties (thermoelectric voltage dependence on temperature difference and Seebeck coefficient) of several alkali-activated composites based on slag or metashale optionally doped with carbon black or graphite powder.
