    THE INFLUENCE OF ECO-LABELLING ON CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND SLOVAKIA

    Eco-labelling is relevant issue in the therotec field of today's business environment. Eco-labelling belongs to voluntary approaches (Remtová, 2006). Voluntary approaches are commitments from polluting firms or sectors to improve their environmental performance. Eco-labels declare there are strict environmental and functional criteria fulfilled in the whole product life cycle. At the same time eco-labelled product remains on a very high quality level. It is a case when a product compared to another oneof a sort, e.g. polluted less (air pollution, water pollution, sewerage water, noise), contains of no hazardous substances, can be recycled or is made from recycled materials, respectivelly and therefore preserves input ressources. The European Union (EU) legally regulates the rules of eco-labelling.
