Enhanced Digital Engine Control Unit for turboprop engines

  • Original language description

HW of the ECU (Engine control unit) EHXX unit is designed to control the H-series aircraft engine of GE Aviation, Czech. The unit is designed as a single-channel programmable with independent over-speed protection. Control and monitoring functions are implemented by the HERCULES processor. The unit communicates with the superior system via the CAN communication interface, the CANAerospace protocol. The power supply of the unit is provided from the on-board network of the aircraft, with DC voltage from 18VDC to 32VDC. The primary task of the unit is to ensure the starting and safe operation of the aircraft engine (activation of the ignition system and setting the required fuel flow to the engine) and its shutdown, respectively. switching to backup control in case of fault detection (switching off fuel and switching to hydro mechanical backup). The unit is controlled by an input for connecting SPCL levers (Single Power Control Lever) and a set of digital inputs for setting the operating mode and activating control functions. SW is designed for single-channel programmable ECU EHXX for aircraft turbine engines. The application area of application is GE turbine engines of the H series, which are currently controlled by outdated analog ECUs and therefore have a fundamentally limited modifiability according to customer requirements. The ECU EHXX represents a part of the electronic engine control system in the aircraft unit. Its function is to process system inputs and set/control system outputs according to an internal algorithm.

The ECU EHXX is designed to control the H-series aircraft engine of GE Aviation, Czech. Basic parameters of the unit: - Supply voltage: from 18 [VDC] to 32 [VDC] - Mechanical dimensions of the unit: 220 x 150 x 70 [mm] - Unit weight: 2,2 [kg] - Digital communication interface: CAN 2.0B SW architecture - divided into three parts: In Part 1, the processor is initialized. This initialization is performed whenever the power is connected to the processor or the processor is reset. During initialization, registry, pointer, and system settings are made. In Part 2, the interrupt setting is performed after the initialization is completed. Interrupts are set to events triggered by analog digital converters, frequency measurement modules, PWM generation modules for el. engines and timer. In the 3rd, part of the architecture, the main SW loop is started. This is where periodic calls to the control logic function and output I / O settings take place. In parallel with the operation of the main loop, the I / O status and power control information is updated for the control logic based on the triggers. engine.
