    Software for the WidePIX TPX2 Scanner A complete software ecosystem was successfully developed to support WidePIX TPX2 Scanner operation, high-speed data transfer, and fundamental data processing. The introduction of the new TPX2-based technology required the design and implementation of an end-to-end software chain, spanning detector firmware, core PC software, and a front-end desktop application. This unified architecture ensures reliable device control, scalable performance, and long-term maintainability, while significantly improving system stability compared to previous generations. FPGA Development • Designed and implemented a new FPGA architecture specifically tailored for the TPX2 sensor. • Developed a custom TPX2 IP core, optimized for seamless sensor integration. • FPGA development carried out in cooperation with Advascope, ensuring compliance with sensor specifications and performance requirements. • Communication infrastructure redesigned to operate under a CPU master-controlled architecture. Communication layer refactored from the legacy MPX3-based design, improving modularity and extensibility. System Architecture • Introduced a CPU master control concept, representing a major architectural shift from previous devices. • Centralized device control under the master CPU, simplifying coordination between system components. • Achieved improved system stability, enhanced fault tolerance, and stronger error resilience. • Overall system reliability and robustness significantly increased. Microcontroller Firmware • Firmware implemented on a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). • RTOS-based design enables deterministic timing, improved task scheduling, and robust multitasking. • Enhanced responsiveness and reliability under high-load operational conditions. Pixet Hardware Library (hwlib) • Developed a custom hardware abstraction library dedicated to the Widepix TPX2 platform. • Provides a standardized and well-defined interface between hardware and higher-level software components. • Simplifies device control, improves code maintainability, and enables future extensions
