Implementation of Digitalization and Sustainability Trends in the Development of Hotel Product
Original language description
It is important for hoteliers to keep up with the latest trends. Tourism trends are a set of phenomena and relationships on the supply and demand side that significantly influence what happens in the hotel industry. As a result of strong globalization tendencies in the tourism market, these trends are subsequently reflected in the supply and demand for tourism. Technological trends, use of information technology (IT), are one of the most recent trends in tourism. Ignorance of innovations in information technology makes a hotel less competitive, while it can also have a negative impact on the guest experience, which can ultimately damage the hotel's reputation. Sustainable tourism can also be counted among one of the most current trends. Sustainability is now not only a growing social issue but also a trend, with consumers becoming more aware of sustainable practices in hotels as information becomes more transparent. The critical influences shaping supply and demand on the hotel side need to be identified early and the necessary measures taken to create the conditions for stabilization and growth in a competitive market in the future. The aim of this paper is to examine the impact of digitalization and sustainability principles on hotel operations and to propose recommendations for Slovak hotels to implement these trends to create a competitive offer and ensure stable operations.
